Dan Behr is completely in love with his wife and often times can’t wait to get home from work. His wife, Alex, goes on retreat one weekend, with instructions to Dan to pick her up when it is over. When Dan arrives, he learns Alex wants to stay. When he talks to the neighbors in the area he learns, this dwelling is a cult. Dan is determined to bring his wife home to him and his daughter. He soon is working with a psychologist, Laura and hires a de-programmer to help with getting his wife back. Once she is captured Alex remains steadfast in wanting to return to the cult. Alex escapes from the de-programmer. Dan continues to work with Laura, to learn about the cult, but he does not know where Alex is. When Dan’s daughter is kidnapped, he is determined to infiltrate the cult and get his daughter back.

Maggie, now a police woman is tasked with investigating the murder of Eve, her childhood best friend. Not only was Maggie her friend, her father was with the police and investigated Eve’s murder. It was Maggie, along with Eve’s sister, Nola who found the body in a cave. Maggie and Eve got into an argument on the day of Eve’s death. Maggie notices Nola seems detached from Eve’s death. There are a number of suspects Nick, Eve’s abusive boyfriend or maybe the creepy neighbor.
Missoula: Rape and the Justice in a College Town by Jon Krakauer DB81250
I think it would be a good idea for young women going off to college to read this book. There is some commonality in these cases. Hopefully, a woman reading this might avoid putting herself in such a position.
This follows several cases of sexual assault at the University of Montana about 2015. The women were assaulted by acquaintances or men they trusted, many by football players. It follows several cases to trial. The policies of reporting sexual assaults at the University were changed as a result of these trials.
