Book Bundles Program

Registration is now open for the 2026-2027 school year!

The Book Bundles Program is a specialized library service designed for schools, catering to children of all ages who cannot read standard print. By registering for this program, schools can open doors to literacy by receiving monthly bundles of braille or large print books. These bundles, consisting of 10 books, are provided directly to the classroom or school library.

Application and Registration Process:

Schools must first apply for the Iowa Library for the Blind and Print Disabled service by completing an Online Institution Application.

Once the application is processed, schools can complete the Online Book Bundles Program Registration to request Book Bundles for their classrooms.

How it Works:

Our library will check out and mail to school a bundle of approximately 10 books each month in braille, or large print formats, catering to the students’ interests and reading level. The book bundles can be returned to the library using “Free Matter for the Blind”.

Pen Pal Program:

As part of the Book Bundles Program, students can sign up to become a Pen Pal Partner. After the Pen Pal letter has been written, it can be placed in the black box to receive a Pen Pal response letter in the following Book Bundles Box. This program has been successful in the past and encourages students to read and write braille.

Programing:

Also as part of the Book Bundles Program, Youth Services Librarian, Denise Bean, is available to bring accessible programing to the classroom either in-person or virtual.
