What is a Pacing Guide?
A pacing guide is a written schedule or document that displays the topics, skills, standards, or units related to a curriculum to be taught over a defined period.
Educators move through course materials at varying paces and often jump around rather than going in unit/part/chapter/lesson order.
When ordering materials for your student, please be sure to include a detailed pacing guide so materials can be produced in the proper order and in a timely manner. This information is crucial to ensure that the materials are ready when the student needs them.
Do I need to provide a pacing guide when ordering materials?
Yes. A pacing guide is required for each order or individual book item within the order. This will allow IMC to determine how a project will be sent out for bid/quote and assigned for production to our transcribers nationwide, if the requested item is not found in the library collection.
Our nationwide transcribers work on timetables (pacing guides) to coordinate with the IMC to ensure the students have their materials in a timely manner.

NOTE: There is room for the LEA to add additional comments when placing the online Athena order, which means less time will be spent clarifying the students’ needs via the phone or email between the LEA (administrator / teacher / paraeducator) and the IMC.
