We are excited to announce that our popular fall youth programs are back in session! Last night, we kicked off the season with a fantastic turnout at the Makerspace Monday Night Workshop. As our fall schedule begins, we invite students, tweens, and teens to jump back into interactive learning, lively discussions, and hands-on fun.
Here is what’s kicking off this week:
Virtual After-School Program
- When: Starting today at 4:15 p.m. and running most Tuesdays until April 2027.
- What: Our weekly after-school program returns! Perfect for young learners looking to engage with fun, hands-on activities, monthly supply kits, and interactive projects throughout the school year.

Beyond the Book: Tween & Teen Book Club
- When: Thursday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m. running most Thursdays until April 2027.
- What: Designed specifically for tweens and teens, this club goes beyond standard reading to dive into deep discussions, creative activities, and connecting with peers.

Connected to the Cosmos!
Best of all, much of the content and activities in both the Virtual After-School Program and the Beyond the Book: Tween/Teen Book Club will directly tie into our newest exhibit: Experience the Cosmos: The James Webb Space Telescope Traveling Tactile Exhibit!
The exhibit is open through December 21, 2026. Whether participating virtually or visiting us in person at 524 Fourth Street in Des Moines, participants will get to reach out and feel the awe-inspiring wonders of deep space.
