Sometimes, whether in the pages of a story, or a problem on a worksheet, a transcriber will encounter a picture of coins. However, recreating images of the coin into a tactile graphic would be tough to master and not successful. Instead, use a transcriber’s note. In this case, a transcriber’s note would provide the braille reader with the best context of information. — Denise Bean

The Weekly Dose of Braille is created by our Youth Services Librarian and Braille Transcriber, Denise Bean, with the help of our Instructional Materials team. It is a miscellaneous mixture of tricky, sometimes challenging circumstances, that a braille transcriber may come across or question.
