House of Secrets by Brad Meltzer  (DB84347)

The House of Secrets is a television show that tries to unravel the secrets of such stories as “Ghosts of Ireland” or “The Shroud of Turin”.  The show is hosted by Jack Nash and often seen with him is his son, Skip. Staying in the background is his daughter, Hazel.  After Jack dies, Hazel and Skip launch an investigation into Jack’s death, taking them all over the world.  As they get closer, they find two men also deceased who seem tied to their father’s death. Then the whole case speeds toward its conclusion, Hazel and Skip are both in danger.  If you liked the Da Vinci Code, you should enjoy this book.

The Exiles by Jane Harper (DB112208)

Investigator Aaron Fulk goes to southern Australia after being chosen godfather for friend’s baby. Kim Gillespie went missing one year ago.  The only clue was her shoe found in a reservoir.  Her teenage daughter, Zara insists that her mom did not like the reservoir, so she would not have drowned there. While visiting, Aaron encounters a second mystery of a man who apparently was killed in a hit and run accident while walking his dog.  The lives of the two families left, are intertwined. With a little detective work, Aaron is able to solve both mysteries and bring the book to a satisfying conclusion and make himself happy in the process.

The Seeing Summer by Jeannette Eyerly (BR5254, 15075  DB19581)

When a new girl, Jenny moves in next door, Carey is worried she won’t be able to do anything because she is blind. She soon finds out differently. Jenny is very capable. I thought this was a very true to life story. This story was carefully researched by Mrs. Eyerly, who at the time was a member of the Iowa Commission Board.  She used input from many individuals she knew at that time to craft this story.
