The Exchange by John Grisham (DB116410, Braille copy in process)

Mitch McDeere and his lawyer partner, Giovanna go to Libya to view a project of one of their clients.  Giovanna is kidnapped.  As demands are made, Mitch spends his time trying to meet their demands for money. The kidnappers keep threatening that if their demands are not met they kill Giovanna as they did with her security team and driver. The law partners are having difficulty raising the huge sum of money demanded by the kidnappers.  To complicate matters, Abby, Mitch’s wife was contacted by the kidnappers and must act as go-between. Mitch worries about Abby’s safety and what will happen if the money is not raised.

The Last to Die by James Grippando  (DB58904)

Sally Fenning’s will includes five people she hated as her beneficiaries.  Jack Swyteck is the lawyer for one the beneficiaries. The only restriction is that the last person alive inherits her 47 million dollars.  The persons involved start bargaining and knocking each other off.  This book has several twists that keep you guessing as to whom is going end up with the money.

The Longest Trip Home by John Grogan (BR18247, DB68018)

This is book is both funny and touching.  John Grogan grew up in conservative Catholic family. John was a rebellious youth much to the dismay of his parents who were conservative Catholics.  They wanted their children to attend mass every week, no drinking or smoking. John broke all the rules, that made for some really funny stories. John became a journalist and wrote a best-selling, humorous book about his dog, Marley which made his parents proud. (Marley and Me DB 61561) In the end, John made peace with his parents even though they had a difference of opinion.  The humor in this book reminded me of the book The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson BR 16929, DB 63131) about a boy growing up in Des Moines, Iowa.
