He had trouble making friends and avoided people who might ask about his family. He worked hard in school and got good grades and went on to college and then law school. As a lawyer he specializes in child advocacy.

This is a dark tale that takes place in Minnesota. Clara, the minister’s wife is the substitute teacher of the student who commits the murder. The student’s father, Grizz is grief stricken trying to understand what came over his son and why he would do such a thing. There are many secrets in this book and it is interlaced with stories Clara’s father told her as a child. This was an All Iowa Reads book in 2014.
