Greetings Readers! Welcome to the first episode of the October 2024 edition of Library News.
Did you know that October is both Dyslexia Awareness Month and National Disability Employment Awareness Month? In this episode, we discuss both Dyslexia and Disability Employment, along with the Top Ten Non-Fiction Downloads from BARD and upcoming fall events.
The Library is excited to announce our October events:
- eReader Essentials with Leland Smith will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 3 via Zoom
- Many Faces of BARD will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 10 via Zoom
- Makerspace Mondays are starting October 14th through April 2025 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and will be available in person or via Zoom
- White Cane Awareness Day is October 15
- Harvesting Accessibility Weekend Retreat for students 14 years and older from October 25-27 at IDB in Des Moines
- That All May eRead will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th via Zoom
Also, you are invited to save the date for the 25th Anniversary Braille Challenge on Saturday, February 22, 2025!
