In this episode, we discuss the Top Ten Fiction Downloads from BARD. This episode highlights the events from last month and provides updates on our Youth Summer Reading Program and the NLS Summer Reading Program.

The Library is also excited to announce our July Events:

  • Many Faces of BARD on Thursday, July 11th at 6 p.m. via Zoom
  • STEAM on the Ridge, Friday, July 26th, in the Oakridge neighborhood in Des Moines. This event will provide students in grades K-8 with different STEAM-related activities. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The Library will provide a hands-on Braille activity for the students.

Bell Academy Logo

On behalf of the National Federation for the Blind of Iowa, the library is excited to share that there will be a Braille camp on August 5-9, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. in Des Moines for blind or low-vision children. Participants will receive Braille and nonvisual skills instruction through fun, hands-on learning while connecting with blind role models and other blind students.
