Each Friday the Instructional Materials Center Team will provide answers to questions asked by educators throughout the week in the IMC FAQ Friday post. We hope these are helpful as schools place orders for students who need accessible educational materials.
Did you know you can request braille for Online Curriculum? Online curriculum is produced in consumable format and is provided at no charge, just like books which are added to our collection. PDF files of the online curriculum are typically available from most publishers. Please request the PDF files from the publisher before requesting the material in Athena. It is also important to verify whether there is an ISBN associated with the material before placing your order.
During the month of September, we added 60 titles to our braille, large print and electronic text collection. 36 of those titles were textbooks, workbooks, literary books, and assessments. The remaining titles were produced for online curriculum in braille and added to the collection.
Below are some highlights from September:
Added to the Library Collection in Braille
- myWorld Interactive, World History (31 volumes)
- CPO Science: Life Science (20 volumes)
Added to the Library Collection in Large Print
- Prentice Hall Literature, Grade 9: Common Core Edition (14 volumes)
- United States History: Reconstruction to the Present (6 volumes)
