Each Friday the Instructional Materials Center Team will provide answers to questions asked by educators throughout the week in the IMC FAQ Friday post. We hope these are helpful as schools place orders for students who need accessible educational materials.
You can easily get all of your accessible educational materials by placing your orders through Athena.
- If the book is available in our collection, we will circulate the book from our library at no cost to your student.
- If a book is not available in our collection, we do research to check if anyone in the U.S. has produced the materials. If the book is available from a vendor, we purchase a copy to add to our library collection. The turnaround time is usually 1-2 months.
- We also check the National Instructional Materials Access Center repository for publisher files. If there are files available, we still require a print book for conversion of these files into braille.
- If the book is not available and needs to be produced from scratch, we require the print book to be sent in along with a hard copy tag. We cannot begin production until the print book has been received and a detailed pacing guide has been entered.
After we receive your order, an email will be sent to the person responsible for ordering with the results of our research, along with any follow-up questions to complete the order.
