IMC FAQ Friday: Braille Materials Tips

Imc Information

Each Friday the Instructional Materials Center Team will provide answers to questions asked by educators throughout the week in the IMC FAQ Friday post. We hope these are helpful as schools place orders for students who need accessible educational materials.

To help make things easier for you, we’ve put together a few tips that we hope you’ll find useful!

Braille textbooks: A braille book has a braille label which is located on the outside cover of each volume. This label contains the volume number and the print page range included in that volume. This information is also included on the print title page inside the volume.

  • If you need to locate a certain chapter, check the table of contents to determine which volume the chapter is in.
  • Print page numbers are located in the upper right-hand corner and Braille page numbers are located in the lower-right hand corner.
  • Textbooks need to be returned to the library when the student is finished using them.

Braille worksheets: Worksheets are assembled with the print stapled to the Braille. The only items that will be produced as consumable in Braille will be worksheets or PowerPoints.

  • Worksheets should not be returned to the library.
