The Iowa Department for the Blind will celebrate its 100th anniversary in April! We invite you to join us in commemorating our first 100 years. There will be a Centennial Celebration open house on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Iowa Department for the Blind. Please join us for tours of the building, a collaborative art activity, hors d’oeurves and more!
In honor of the Department celebrating such a momentous occasion, and to start off the next 100 years of empowering and improving the lives of blind Iowans, we have worked with The Side Garage to design a limited-edition T-shirt for purchase. It’s a beautiful navy-blue shirt with a white graphic of a stick man and a white cane in the center. The words Making Strides are arched over him and Moving Forward is in a straight line under him. Below that it says Iowa Department for the Blind est. 1925. On the back it says Making Strides, Moving Forward in braille.

If you are interested in purchasing a T-shirt, please order online at https://www.ignition.ink/idb-100-anniversary The online store closes March 17, 2025 and will reopen later March. T-shirts are $25 plus shipping.
