Enhancing Theater For All : Braille Playbills

Library

The Iowa Library for the Blind and Print Disabled is excited to collaborate with Des Moines Performing Arts to offer braille playbills for Broadway Series performances at the Des Moines Civic Center. The magic of the theater isn’t just about what happens on stage—it’s about the full experience. From the moment you walk into the theater, you’re immersed in the story, the music, and the atmosphere. And now, that experience is even more inclusive by offering braille playbills for Broadway series performances.

“We at Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) are grateful for the opportunity to offer Braille-transcribed programs for visually impaired guests,” said DMPA Guest Services Manager Marnie Strate. “Having Braille programs created through the Iowa Department of the Blind as well as offering Audio Description services through IRIS, allows guests to fully enjoy the theatergoing experience.”

Check with Guest Services at the Des Moines Civic Center to request a braille playbill. If you have any questions, please contact Des Moines Performing Arts at 515-246-2300. To see the schedule of upcoming performances, go to https://www.desmoinesperformingarts.org/
