Did you know that the Books for Kids will be expanding its incredible program by offering; monthly crime solving mystery games, puzzles, word searches, card collectables, all centered around reading? Also, gain access to library resources and monthly newsletters. If you are new to this program or have been around for awhile there are few suggestions below that will keep you at the top of the game for this up-and-coming school year. Taking a few minutes to update key information, such as reading levels, address, reading formats, genre is essential. To make this process a little easier a checklist has been created.
Who can participate in the Books for Kids Program? It is a program for kids’ birth through 18 years old to access monthly reading materials in the format that is best for them sent directly to their preferred address. To receive additional books, just flip the mailing label and send back to Iowa Library for the Blind and Print Disabled. It is that easy! Here is how to get started:
- If your student is NOT a library patron: Fill out our online library application. An application must be filled out to be a Books for Kids participant.
- If your student is a library patron: Fill out the online registration for the Books for Kids program.

A student’s profile needs to be updated every year.
- Name
- Address [School/Home]
- Caregiver/Teacher Contact Information
- Grade level AND reading level
- Interests
- Format for books
