We have been seeing an increase in requests for electronic materials to be put into braille for the 2020/2021 school year. An electronic material could be a textbook that is solely online or other materials/files that are not in hard copy print.
- If you need an online textbook produced in braille, please request the PDF files from the publisher.
- If there are print page numbers in the PDF files from the publisher or other electronic files, we will process them like a book, bound with the print page numbers in the upper right hand corner in the braille copy. In this case, we would not need a hard print copy. Please bear in mind that there are some Braille production vendors that will not accept electronic only copies, so there may be occasions where we will ask you to send in the print copy.
- If there are no print page numbers, we will need the electronic files printed out in hard copy and mailed in so we can staple print to braille for the student. In this case, we would still require the electronic copy as well to produce the braille.
- If you have a large amount of electronic files you need to submit for a student, consider putting the electronic files into a Dropbox folder. Dropbox accounts are free to set up, and once the files are added, a link can be sent to share the files. If you use this method, please include the Dropbox link in the special instructions of the IMC online order form. Also, please batch the files into separate folders. For example, Language Arts 1st quarter, Math 1st quarter, etc.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
