The IMC Team wanted to share new information that has been provided by the Iowa Department of Education (DOE) regarding the procurement of braille and large print materials for students. Below is the information provided by the DOE:
- The DOE will pay for any braille or large print materials which were received by Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB), ordered by IDB with a vendor and vendor has accepted the order by end of business day on September 30, 2022.
- Additionally, the physical delivery and receipt of the materials must occur by the close out date of this funding period which is January 27th, 2023.
What does this mean? Any order placed for a student through the IMC before September 30, 2022 and received by the IMC from the vendor on or before January 27, 2023 will be at no cost to the School Districts. If the order is being done in installments the School Districts will only be responsible for any remaining installments completed after January 27, 2023 and the cost assistance being offered by IDB would be available to the school. There are a lot of variables with transcription projects so please don’t hesitate to reach out to the IMC Team for clarification.
We appreciate your patience during this time, and we want to let you know that we are doing the best to provide you with any new information we receive. We too have had to ask for clarifications, so please reach out to us with your questions.
We also encourage School Districts to complete and have in place the Memorandum of Understanding available to take advantage of the cost assistance being provided by the Iowa Department for the Blind.
