The Book Club on Waverly Lane by Rachel Hanna (DB112345)
Shelby Anderson is new to Charleston, South Carolina. She loves to read and decides to form a book club to get to know the women of her neighborhood. All of women have secrets that they don’t want to share with their neighbors. Shelby meets one of the town’s most eligible bachelors and soon forms a new relationship. As the women’s friendships deepen each of women realize that they are not being honest and each of their secrets is revealed. If you enjoy books, mysteries, women’s friendships, and a little romance this would be a book for you.
The 9th Girl by Tami Hoeg (DB76887)
Detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are involved in investigating a murder where a young girl popped out of a trunk and then was run over by a vehicle on New Year’s Eve. Penny, the victim is traced to a school for gifted students, which Liska’s son, Kyle attends. They find video of Penny’s last known movements. They question whether she was a victim of a serial killer they looking into and are calling Doc Holiday. Penny was a loner and not liked by many other students. She was bullied by a number of classmates. Kyle becomes involved in Penny’s murder as she was a friend of his. Kyle is ostracized by other students who appear to have something to do with Penny’s murder because they were some of the last people to be seen with her. There are many twists and turns to this book before its stunning conclusion.
Homecoming by Kate Morton (DB116812)
Jess returns home to Australia after learning that her grandmother, Nora who raised her is in the hospital. Her grandmother fell, while trying to go up to the attic. Jess has many questions. Why was her grandmother going to the attic? She had cautioned Jess many times as a child not to go into the attic. When Jess went to the hospital to visit her, Nora kept mumbling about people wanting to take her baby. What was that all about? Jess finds a true crime book in Nora’s room and as she starts to read it, she finds a connection to her own family back in the 1950’s. She starts to investigate and the effects of what happened back in the 1950’s cause repercussions in the present day.
