- In order to save you time on Learning Ally and Bookshare requests, please search and download to get these materials for your students. If it isn’t available from them, we will be glad to assist you with an alternative media.
- Bookshare files are offered as BRF, DAISY text or audio files. Select the choice which best serves the student.
- Print materials need to be sent in for all requests. This includes books and worksheets. The vendors that we work with require a print copy of materials as part of the transcription process.
- When choosing Unified English Braille (UEB) as an option, please be sure that the student will be ready to read UEB when it is received. Many students may not be ready for UEB materials until the 2nd semester.
- Please only return Braille and Large Print/Large Type books that have a pocket on the inside cover and a label that begins with BR or LT.
- Worksheets are produced as single sided to assist in assembly of print to Braille. In this situation, we can either interleaf the print and Braille in a comb binding or staple the print to the Braille.
- For electronic Braille (BRF), please be aware that it will need to be single spaced to be more efficiently used on a Braille device.
- BRF materials can be read using the following devices
- A Braille notetaker, (such as BrailleNote or Braille Sense), speech and/or Braille.
- iDevices using the BARD Mobile app and a refreshable Braille display, Braille only.
- Pocket-sized players such as a Book Port Plus, Victor Reader Stream or Book Sense, speech only.
- Computer equipped with a refreshable Braille display, Braille only.
