Lyle and Peg have a very close relationship with their grandson, Isaac.  Isaac’s mother, Shiloh has a tenuous relationship with her father, especially since she took up the minister of a fundamentalist church. Shiloh soon moves in with the minister, Steven.  Isaac has diabetes and Shiloh and Steven think they can cure him not by using medication, but by praying over him.

Lily grew up in a home of full drama.  As an underclassman, she befriends a boy, Atlas who is homeless and helps him to survive.  When Atlas leaves and moves to another city, he promises to return to Lily when the time is right. Lily goes to college, starts her own business, and marries a doctor, Ryel. They are deeply in love, but Ryel has anger issues. Each time someone from her past is brought up, Lily bears the brunt of his anger. Lily must decide if she wants to continue with the relationship or start over.

 

The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson DB 69906

Walt Longmire is a mess since his wife died three years ago.  He becomes involved in death of a young man who was found not guilty of a sexual assault of a young Native American girl. The chase for the killer leads Walt up into the mountains with a snowstorm coming on, along with his close friend, Running Bear.  There are many memorable characters in this book with its twisted ending.  The first in the series.
