Summer Reading Program Report of the Week!

Cat carriying books with text Imagine Your StoryWe went deep sea diving straight into the ocean and found ourselves learning and swimming with the enormous Blue Whale! In fact, did you know that the Blue Whale is a mammal and can weigh as much as 441,000 pounds and can grow to be as big as a jet airplane! Wow, now that is amazing! We spent time on the beach while making our very own Sandcastle Sand Art with our library friend Ellie! Next, we got to meet Abigail who dazzled us with her sparkling crown and BEE QUEEN sash as she introduced us to her very own bee hive. We got BUZZING with the BEES! Did you know that bees cannot see the color red and can flap their wings 200 times per second, plus out of every 4 bites of food bees are responsible for 3 of those delicious bites?  We are so excited, in the month of September don’t miss out, we are going to make beeswax candles and lip balm with our friend Abigail. I can’t wait!!  Finally, as if this week isn’t fun enough, Friday we learned all about plants. Plants provide us with both oxygen and food, wow, who knew that! We got to make our very own CHIA pet friend.

We only have one week left of our Summer Reading Program Virtual Event, but I have great news for all of you, the fun will continue as we look ahead! Stay tune to “up and coming” detail in the very near future. COMING UP NEXT WEEK …

Summer Reading Program Report of the Week!

Cat carriying books with text Imagine Your StoryWhat a blast this week entailed from making our very own “Pet Rock” friend and learning about habitats! We got our hands messy with Ellie making Pine Cone Bird Feeders and Feather Bead Necklace.

On July 6th we have a special visitor, Connor, who is going to introduce us to Jellyfish and Sharks, YIKES! I wonder if he has met a Jellyfish up close?  And we can’t wait to visit the Amazon with our Amazon Rain stick. Did you know that it takes 10 minutes for the rain to land on the jungle floor? Yes, that is correct, it is because the jungle canopy is so thick!

Summer Reading program Report of the Week!

Cat carriying books with text Imagine Your StoryHere at our Youth Library with all of our library friends has been a blast of electric fun!

In the first week of our Summer Reading Program we explored the weather and met with a real storm spotter Scott who taught us a few tricks in predicting the weather! We also made pinwheels, and learned all about what happens when you put soap in the microwave and so much more!

In the second week, our library friends Raced into Space with Dan Chibnall! Dan made space come alive with excitement! To top it all off in a twinkling star fashion we explored the sun, which by the way is a star, and discovered how craters form on the moon!

We also had a great time on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00pm listening to Bob White, a volunteer narrator, read from the book Bunnicula by James Howe.  Feel free to join us and listen to the story during IDB Read Kids.  The sky is the limit on all the fun this Summer Reading Program has in store for everyone!
