Ready, Set, Adventure!
Our second week of our Summer Reading Program took us around the world!
Monday, we made the discovery that art comes in all different shapes and sizes. Did you know that music is art as well? This week we are recreating a masterpiece from the very famous artist Claude Monet named “The Water Lilies”. If you like circles you would enjoy the Kandinsky Concentric Circle art activity. Did you also know that Picasso’s first word he spoke was “pencil?”
On Wednesday, we took flight and landed in Hawaii and made a Hawaiian Lei. A lei is a symbol of love, friendship, and celebration. When you arrive in Hawaii, it is tradition that you are greeted with a lei. Fun Fact: The word Aloha means “hello” and “good-bye” in Hawaii.
On Food Frenzy Friday, we finished our week by dancing in our seats to the sound of drums while learning the moves to the African song “A Lion with a Tail.” Here is something you may not know about Africa; it is the hottest continent in the world and it has the largest desert. At the end of the day Taryn read the book titled, Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin while we enjoyed the crunchiness and chocolaty flavors from the Edible Crayons Activity we made. It was a great week of fun and so much more to come!
