Banned Books Week – September 25 – October 1st

bbw16-bubble-2If you could go back in time, which book would you give your younger self?

Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community—libraries, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types —in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.  First observed in 1982, Banned Books Week reminds Americans not to take the freedom to read for granted.

  1. Charlotte’s Web would be my choice. Hard to believe it was a banned book. I’m glad I am reading it aloud to my class during banned books week. Never take the freedom to read for granted!

  2. Oh so many books….the first one that comes to mind that I have used as a teacher is “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” by Sherman Alexi. Of course, it hadn’t been written yet. (Nor was it a banned book – hope that’s okay, just couldn’t resist the question)
